Garry Determined To Prove His Worth - Defender working hard to repay the faith

Cherries injured defender Ryan Garry has vowed to work harder than ever to regain his fitness and prove it was the right decision for the club to extend his stay at Bournemouth.

Garry was initially signed until the end of 2007, but broke his leg just seven games into his Cherries career. The former Arsenal graduate had shown clear potential during that time and Garry insists there is more to come from him in a Bournemouth shirt.

Following the first session of an intense fitness regime Garry said, "It's very pleasing to get a new contract. It was upsetting at first to break my leg early in my career down here, but it's nice to know I'm going to be here until the end of the season.

"My target is to get fit, work hard in training and start to get back onto the bench and into the team on merit and show just what I can do. It's a nice gesture by the club, but it wasn't anything connected with any old injuries.

"It was a hefty challenge and it was unlucky the way I was caught. But from everyone's perspective it's in the past now and I've got to concentrate on playing again and helping AFC Bournemouth. The emphasis isn't on the fact I've signed a contract, but to get fit and do a job for this football club."
